ACTIVATED (ALBUM)

ACTIVATED is a soulful and spiritually charged journey of resilience, love, identity, courage, and legacy, blending Tasleem Jamila’s powerful poetry and jazz, hip-hop and rich soulful production. Across seven tracks, the album moves from collective strength and inner awakening to the celebration of Black beauty, the healing power of love, the responsibility of legacy, and the bravery required to live authentically. With production and contributions from artists including Professor Griff of Public Enemy, singer/producer Aki Dawson, and jazz composer Reginald Robinson, ACTIVATED carries both an intimate and universal spirit—an affirmation of who we are, what we carry, and what becomes possible when we remember our essence and step fully into our power.

TASLEEM (ALBUM)

Tasleem, the 2008 debut album by Tasleem Jamila, is a deeply personal fusion of hip-hop, jazz, soul, spoken word, and spiritual expression, channeling the artist’s Chicago roots, faith, lived experiences, and commitment to healing and social consciousness. Across 16 tracks, Tasleem moves fluidly between lyrical storytelling, poetry, rhythmic emceeing, and soulful reflection, exploring love, identity, struggle, resilience, family, community, Black consciousness, and the search for a brighter day. Featuring collaborations with artists including Abiodun of The Last Poets, Amir Sulaiman, and composer Reginald Robinson, the album establishes Tasleem as a poet-vocalist whose words are both intimate and purposeful—an offering from the soul that challenges, uplifts, and inspires listeners to reflect, awaken, and transform.
